Impressit joined the team of Shell developers to strengthen it with our expertise in a range of technologies, namely, React.js, Node.js, Python as well as Azure DevOps. The task we are to help with is the creation of the library of UI components that would be used in the development of the other projects for Shell.

Shell is a well-known international company, one of the leaders of the oil and gas industry. Additionally, it is actually one of the world's largest companies out of any industry with more than 90,000 employees and operations in more than 90 countries all over the world.
In 2013, Shell also established Shell TechWorks — company’s own tech hub that focuses on identifying and developing new technologies that would address operational challenges, reduce risks, and deliver cleaner and more affordable energy.

Our cooperation started when Shell decided to create a consistent design system that would not only reflect the company's brand and objectives but also enhance efficiency, reduce redundancy, and ensure a cohesive user experience. Creating a single uniform design that meets the company's vision and requirements would streamline and simplify frontend development for other software development teams working for the company.

The team is creating a library of ready-made designs and React components (for example, a text field, a calendar, a button, a checkbox, a modal window, etc.). In future, software development teams that work on other projects for Shell would not need to create both the design and the elements themselves from scratch. They will be able to build their interfaces with the ready-made “building blocks.”
 

The first step in our partnership was to fill in the gap in their development team with a frontend expert. Impressit has always focused on hiring top-notch professionals so when it came to cooperation with Shell, we kept the standards of candidate validation at the highest level. We managed to fill the position in a timely manner with a perfectly skilled developer. Now, the team constantly adds new components to the library and improves existing ones.

A Python developer was added to the team some time ago, and just recently, a DevOps engineer expanded the team so we continue our successful cooperation with Shell.
