Backend and Cloud Engineering for the Remote Patient Monitoring App

The Impressit team helped Alertive to significantly improve the existing platform by using best coding practices and developing distributed architecture and failover processes. The cooperation between our team of backend engineers and Alertive’s frontend team and QAs allowed us to bring the application to the next level.

Alertive Healthcare is a digital healthcare company with the aim of providing remote health monitoring for senior patients. In October 2021, Alertive Healthcare was acquired by Carbon Healthcare. The Alertive app not only checks the conditions of patients’ hearts, lungs, kidneys, and brains and notifies them if anything seems off but also connects the patients to their doctors. Numerous patients throughout the United States already experienced the improvement of their life quality with Alertive.

At the beginning of our cooperation, Impressit was hired as a vendor 

to improve the platform with the efforts of three Senior engineers. 

We managed to support and extend existing features. We ensured the stability of the application’s performance as well.

However, as we were exploring the backend of the application deeper, we saw a lot of additional value we could bring to the table. First, we helped Alertive to find bottlenecks and inspected the possible areas for improvement.

Then, after we proved our expertise, we also got involved with cloud engineering, DevOps, and distributed architecture. One of the most important and biggest objectives of this project was to plan and execute the process of migration to the new architecture.

Since we work with medical data, we understand how sensitive and important each piece of information we’re working with is. That is why our main goal now is to continuously improve Alertive’s reliable and life-changing application.

At the moment, the Impressit team fully manages the backend part of the project and works on its continuous improvement. Impressit also created detailed and well-written documentation that would help all the engineers to work with the system more efficiently. 

Despite the acquisition of Alertive Healthcare, the Impressit team keeps on working on the app. The next step of our cooperation is the improvement of the existing system, considering all the existing issues and pitfalls.
