Senior Desktop Engineer (Rust/Tauri + React)

Impressit is looking for a Senior/Middle Full-stack Desktop Engineer (Rust + React) to join a cross-functional product team building an offline-first desktop application for managing field-deployed hardware in a security-sensitive environment. This is an opportunity to own backend development in Rust while leading the integration with a modern React desktop application, building complex interactive features, and collaborating directly with international stakeholders.

— Own backend development in Rust, including Tauri commands, services, device adapters, socket handlers, and automated tests
— Design and implement scalable backend architecture with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability
— Integrate Rust services with the React 19 / TypeScript desktop application
— Build and maintain offline-first capabilities and real-time communication features
— Develop complex product functionality spanning both Rust and React when required
— Own WebSocket-based communication and device state management
— Extend the device mock environment to enable development without physical hardware
— Extend automated testing with Playwright and Rust tests while maintaining reliable CI/CD pipelines
— Collaborate closely with product, design, and client stakeholders to deliver new functionality
— Establish engineering standards through code reviews, technical documentation, and best practices
— Ensure high levels of application performance, reliability, security, and usability

— 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience with proven ownership of complex full-stack or backend applications
— Strong commercial experience with Rust as a primary programming language, including async programming (Tokio), backend development, Tauri commands and services, testing, and device integrations
— Experience developing desktop applications with Tauri
— Expert knowledge of React 19, TypeScript (strict mode), and modern frontend architecture
— Experience building and maintaining REST APIs, WebSocket services, and real-time communication
— Experience working with hardware integrations, device protocols, or embedded systems
— Hands-on experience building complex interactive UIs with Canvas, SVG, and real-time rendering
— Experience with React Query (TanStack Query), Web Workers, and frontend performance optimization
— Experience with automated testing using Playwright and Rust unit/integration tests
— Good understanding of CI/CD practices
— Strong Computer Science fundamentals, including concurrency, API design, software architecture, and debugging across frontend/backend boundaries
— Experience working with offline-first applications and secure software development practices
— Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating directly with product teams and international clients
— Upper-Intermediate or higher level of English

— Deep knowledge of Tokio internals, async Rust, concurrency patterns, and structured error handling
— Experience with embedded systems, Raspberry Pi, or other single-board devices
— Experience with hardware communication protocols, device state machines, or diagnostics
— Experience with Canvas, WebGL, audio processing, or waveform visualization
— Experience with internationalization (i18next) and accessibility
— Background in regulated or security-sensitive industries
